What is World Whisky Day?
Celebrated on the third Saturday in May, World Whisky Day is a global celebration of “the water of life”. Take part by raising a dram of your favourite whisky, doing some research into the history of this beloved tipple, or trying a new release.
Some Fun Whisky Facts
- The portion of whisky absorbed by the barrel is called The Devil’s Share, and the portion that evaporates during the ageing process is called The Angel’s Share.
- Kentucky is home to more barrels of bourbon than people.
- Whiskey replaced William in the NATO phonetic alphabet in 1956.
Yarm Whisky: Making History
Yarm Distillery are honoured to have released the North East’s first single malt English whisky. Our first release was bottled on 28th June 2023, and received excellent reviews. We have new make currently maturing on site, so watch this space…
